Parents will provide bottles, breast milk, diapers, and wipes when applicable.
During Toilet Training, it’s important to not rush the child. We recommend using disposable underwear (like “Pull-Ups”) only during times when accidents must be avoided. Provide us with extra underwear in the event of accidents, which are inevitable in the learning stages. We encourage the children and are willing to take as much time as needed to help them grow during this accomplishment.
Parents should provide one complete change of clothing (including socks J) at all times and see that they are appropriate to the season. Children can leave outdoor play shoes at the Center for daily use. Also, during the summer if needed we ask that swimwear and accessories (suit, towel, sunscreen, hat, glasses, etc.) be provided and during winter if needed we ask that winter gear (heavy coat, hat, gloves/mittens, scarf, boots, etc.) be provided. LABEL EVERYTHING
The Center is equipped with an abundance of age appropriate toys and books. We teach with the belief of “learning through play”. We have opportunities to experiment with free/creative activities as well as many outdoor activities. We encourage children to explore a variety of materials including paint, paper, play dough, scissors & glue. However, none of these activities are ever mandatory. For our pre-schoolers, be sure to look for your child’s individual creations! We allow your child to express themselves as they want.
Parents will always be required to give permission before any field trip outing can be finalized. Please look for these listings in your monthly calendar of events and we welcome any questions or suggestions. In the past, we had some fun outings to places like library story times, yoga, adventures to parks, museums, and more. For children age of five (5) years and younger, we will ask them to take time for quiet/nap, which will immediately follow their lunch. This quiet time ranges by child and is typically between 1.5 to 2.5 hours. DCFS requires that all children under the age of 6 have a nap/quiet time.
